When Pixar Pier opens this June, it's going to be a new immersive experience giving guests a glimpse of the worlds of The Incredibles, Toy Story, Inside Out, and many other fan favourite films. With all of that, though, there are not very many new attractions but instead a re-imagination and transformation of older Paradise Pier classics. In case you've lost track of the changes, here's everything we know is coming including some recent announcements.

It's become common over the past several months for Disney to announce new additions coming to Downtown Disney district. Ultimately the area is being renovated to update the look and feel of the promenade and prepare for the addition of the new eastern gateway project. Including some new announcements today, here is what has and will be changing in Downtown Disney in 2018 alone.

Downtown Disney is changing fast through 2018 and now the largest retail store in the Disneyland Resort, World of Disney, will become part of that change. Little has changed in the store since it first opened in 2000 but this reimagining will impact guests throughout most of the year. Be aware of what's happening so you won't be surprised when you visit.

Next year is going to be quite an exciting year for the Downtown Disney district at the Disneyland Resort. Since late 2016 Disney has slowly announced a slew of new dining and entertainment venues coming to the often neglected shopping area and most will be finished by summer 2018! In case you missed some of these announcements, here's a recap so you have reason to get a little excited for new night life!

As the summer of 2017 has worn on, guests have been waiting patiently for the reopening of the Rivers of America in Frontierland.  The good news is that Big Thunder Trail has just opened up behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, but that's the extent of the news thus far.  I've already made my guess as to when we can actually expect them to reopen now, but we have an early look into what we can expect the new layout to be and it answers a lot of questions guests have had during construction.

We've been waiting patiently since last January for the return of the Disneyland Railroad and the Rivers of America.  Although they've released new details about Fantasmic!, it's the end of April and we still don't have any definite idea when everything will be reopening.  There's clearly progress on Star Wars Land and reports show progress along the Rivers of America, but when will it all be over?  Looking back on how Disney usually handles temporary closures, I think we can make a pretty good guess.

Last week at the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Imagineers announced new details concerning the Star Wars-themed lands coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida and Disneyland Park.  Although there has been no new bombshells concerning attractions or entertainment experiences coming, they have offered new insights about the world they're creating and how it fits in the Star Wars​ universe.
