Overall Rating: 4 StarsAs the first show to debut at the Fantasyland Theater since the pandemic, this show is sure to delight and amaze! The Tale of the Lion King is a fast-paced, energetic, creative retelling of the classic animated film with live music and engaging actors. Don't miss this show on your next visit! |
Atmosphere: 4 Stars
The nice thing about the Fantasyland Theater is that the audience can be completely surrounded by the performance. From the beginning you're surrounded by the performers as they make their way to the stage. It's also refreshing that they use the entire stage area the whole show so even those who are not actively part of the story and are off to the side are still "in the moment" and portray characters the entire time.
What else is great about the venue? It's shaded and there is ample seating so you don't have to arrive super early to get a great seat and take some time out from the sun.

Entertainment Quality: 4 Stars
The only way I can describe this show is ENERGETIC! The dancing is nearly nonstop and you can't take your eyes away for even a second for fear of missing something. Not to mention that the storytellers on stage are so involved and engaged from start to finish and you can tell they're proud of their performance (as they should be)!
It's amazing to see how seriously Disney has taken the cultures The Lion King represents. The hairstyling, costuming, music, choreography and sets all transport you to Africa in a very authentic-feeling way that seems so appropriate and necessary for the story. Nothing takes away from the show - it all adds to the experience and feels true. It's a very heartfelt experience that will stay with you your whole trip.

Time Commitment: 4 Stars
The show lasts just under 30 minutes which is perfect for any age group. It retells the entire story of The Lion King fast enough for the littlest to keep their attention on the stage but they take enough time that even the adults can feel lost in the moment. It's especially helpful because the shows are held all afternoon so if the lines are too long in the rest of the park you can easily make your way over, find a seat and keep everyone in your family happy while you enjoy the show. Honestly, this is a must-watch show!
