Details of the 2017 holiday season at the Disneyland Resort have been scarce at best, but it's only a few weeks away so here is what we know is returning this year. We also now know we will be losing a fan favourite, possibly permanently, but there's also a change coming to Fantasyland that could mean year-round changes for a classic attraction! Are you ready for the holidays? If not, better start now!
- Sleeping Beauty's Winter Castle
- Haunted Mansion Holiday
- "it's a small world" Holiday
- "A Christmas Fantasy" Parade
- Believe...in Holiday Magic
DISNEY CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE
- Festival of Holidays
- Disney "Viva Navidad!"
- World of Color - Season of Light
Along with all of this we can also safely assume the return of beautiful decorations along Main Street, USA, Buena Vista Street, New Orleans Square, and Cars Land among other places.
Absent from this list is the popular Jingle Cruise overlay in Adventureland. It has made an appearance in the past with no announcement but the refurbishment schedule shows no down-time planned for the Jungle Cruise. Disney has also hinted that there are reasons why they chose to discontinue it this year but those reasons may also prove permanent.
Arguably the biggest change coming to the parks this holiday season is the addition of FastPass on "it's a small world" Holiday. Disneyland quietly installed FastPass scanners at the entrance of "it's a small world" a couple of weeks ago and finally confirmed that they will be using the new system for the Holiday overlay (presumably with temporary mobile distribution machines). If this change proves popular then there is a chance they may choose to add FastPass to the attraction year-round. FastPasses will begin on "it's a small world" Holiday on 10 November 2017 and will be available for free from distribution machines or via the Disneyland mobile app for those with MaxPass.
