We were all a little disappointed when Disney decided to close "Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular" at Disney California Adventure, but now we have new a new reason to be excited! Disney has announced that the Frozen-inspired stage show to take "Aladdin's" place will open at the Hyperion Theatre in May 2016! |
Officially titled "Frozen - Live at the Hyperion", the new Frozen-inspired spectacular is produced by Broadway greats who helped create other amazing Disney Broadway ventures including Aladdin and The Lion King. The show is described as "a unique take", which we can assume means that it will not be exactly like the movie (pause as all parents take a collective sigh) especially since Sven will sing on stage.
The show is set to premiere on 27 May 2016 in Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure. For those concerned that there will be two Frozen offerings in one land, fear not. "For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration", currently occupying the old "Muppet Vision" Theatre, will close on 17 April 2016 partly in preparation for the musical. No word has been issued yet on what will replace it.
We will be there opening week and post our Disneyland 4-Ever 4-Star review shortly afterwards, so keep an eye out! But be honest, are you more excited for "Frozen - Live at the Hyperion" to open or "For the First Time in Forever" to close?
