Lunar New Year, more commonly known as Chinese New Year, has been celebrated annually at Disney California Adventure for quite some time now, but this year they're taking the celebration up a few notches. 2017's Lunar New Year at DCA will be bigger, better and longer than ever before bringing much needed festivities to the off-season at the Disneyland Resort. |
Lunar New Year festivities will kick off 20 January 2017 and run through 5 February, longer than they have ever had before. Traditional highlights for the celebration include Asian marketplaces and food in the Paradise Garden area, cultural entertainment, and meet-and-greets with Mickey and Minnie in Asian attire as well as Mulan and Mushu, two rare finds in the Disneyland Resort.
This year, the Lunar New Year will also feature a new pre-show to World of Color entitled "Hurry Home". The story is about a Little Lantern on its way home for Lunar New Year and features Mulan and Mushu in dream sequences, traditional Chinese paper cut-out style animation and a soundtrack including an arrangement of the song written for the grand opening of Shanghai Disney Resort.
Typically DCA is quiet in January as the off-season begins, so if you're planning on coming to enjoy smaller crowds you can also take in the extra sights and entertainment offered through Lunar New Year - a celebration unique to the Disneyland Resort!
