Several treasured attractions will be closing in just a short while so work on the new Star Wars Land can begin. They will be open again next year, but Disney has announced that, as of later this month, guests will still be able to experience these attractions in new ways so if you were worried they might be gone for good, take this as news that Disney has no plans to eliminate them from the park! |
The iconic Disneyland Railroad will not service guests this year, but we're not saying good-bye to the engines. Soon guests will be able to get up close to these real steam engines parked at the Main Street, USA and New Orleans Square stations and learn more about their operation. According to Disney Parks, "each engine will be accompanied by knowledgeable train engineers, who will share fun facts, details on how the engines operate, stories from the history of the Disneyland Railroad and more". Photo ops will also be available.
No specifics have been given yet, but Disney is apparently planning similar experiences for the Mark Twain Riverboat and Sailing Ship Columbia which will also be out of service for 2016. These experiences, though, are said to be "limited-time" so keep and eye out for them.
In the same announcement, Disney says that in lieu of the Jungle Cruise (which will be closed this month for a somewhat extensive renovation) guests will be able to talk with Jungle Cruise skippers outside the entrance of the attraction, ask questions, and still hear the classic cheesy jokes.
