Last week at the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Imagineers announced new details concerning the Star Wars-themed lands coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida and Disneyland Park. Although there has been no new bombshells concerning attractions or entertainment experiences coming, they have offered new insights about the world they're creating and how it fits in the Star Wars universe. |
Many guests have noted from the concept art that the world of Star Wars Land is nothing seen before, and that's on purpose. Imagineers have noted that this world lies beyond the Outer Rim of the galaxy in the "Unknown Regions". It's a unique world once frequented by sub-hyperspace travelers but now home mainly to those who want to travel under the radar like smugglers and deep space adventurers. Their intent is to create a world not seen in the movies, not a recreation, and therefore a completely new experience for Star Wars buffs and novices alike.
Concept art old and new shows a world that embodies the feel of Star Wars and contains a bunch of interactive experiences and surprises as you walk the streets. They're still working on the final plans and it's likely that the details of the attractions are still changing, but that's to be expected when the opening date is so far away. Star Wars Land is scheduled to open at Disneyland in 2019. What are you most excited to see? |
