Beginning 6 May 2016 you'll be able to preview scenes in 3D from the new movie Alice Through the Looking Glass at the Sunset Showcase Theatre (formerly the Crown Jewel Theatre where "For the First Time in Forever" was located, even formerly the Muppet Vision Theatre). The preview will utilize the theatre's special effects during the 10-minute presentation. This will be a limited engagement, as are most movie previews, and will wrap up 12 June.
Even more exciting is the news that Disney has announced the official opening date of the new Soarin' Around the World! The attraction will open first with the rest of Shanghai Disneyland, then the following day on 17 June 2016 the gates will be thrown open at Grizzly Peak Airfield. This new version of the classic will take guests over such sights as the Great Wall of China, the real Matterhorn in Switzerland and Sydney Harbor. There's no word yet when Soarin' Over California will take its final flight, but it will be closed no more than a week prior to the 17 June.
Soarin' Around the World at DCA has been greeted with mixed sentiments. I personally keep close to my heart Walt Disney's wish and desire that Disneyland always be a place never finished where guests can constantly come and find something new. No, it doesn't have as much to do with California as it used to, but it's exciting to imagine what more could come in the future with this attraction! What are your thoughts?
