Overall Rating: 4 StarsOne of the newest additions to Downtown Disney is this craft burger locale that offers exactly what the sign says: burgers and shakes. Prices are a bit high, but the quality and quantity of food you get can be enough to forget all that. Be prepared for a big mess, though, and grab plenty of napkins! |
Atmosphere: 4 Stars
You can tell when you step inside that Black Tap markets itself as a trendy (dare I say "hip") restaurant and that fits very well with its location in Downtown Disney - right in the middle of the busiest section of the district. You may have to wait in a line to order but generally there are no issues finding a seat - particularly since the staff seats you. It has all the benefits of a quick-service location and the perks of a table-service joint since you don't have to wait around to listen for your order number and lumber back with trays of food. They bring it out to your table. |

In one word, I would say the food is AMAZING! The burgers are nice and juicy and the chicken stays crisp. The sweet potato fries are some of the best we've ever had and the classic fries are steak fries - my favourite kind! Even the simplest burger on the menu has a great flavour and all the rest have such unique combinations that you won't find on a burger anywhere else, like a pizza burger. Careful, though, everything you order is huge. If you're not particularly hungry you may want to split one order.
The shakes are called "crazy" for a reason because they're loaded with toppings that extend beyond the glass and coat the rim. These you probably certainly want to split with others. They are milk shakes and should not be expected to be thick, but I can't wait to have my next one!

Here's the only catch - meals at Black Tap are not cheap. It's not the most expensive place in Downtown Disney by any means but you will be spending more on burgers and shakes here than anywhere else in the Disneyland Resort. Meals are typically between $12-$20 per person and the shakes are also a bit pricey, but remember that you are getting a lot of food and you could, if you want, split meals among your party to save some money. I still recommend that you drop by but take some time and think about everything before you order.
