This tiny quick service restaurant can be easily missed if you don't know what you're looking for. It's tucked away beneath the balcony of the Disneyland Dream Suite and next to the line for Pirates of the Caribbean. It may be small, but the food they serve offers big New Orleans flavour that will not disappoint! The best part? Service is always super fast!

There's not much to the restaurant itself. When I say it's tucked away under the balcony, that is pretty much the entirety of the space - just what can fit under the balcony! That said, New Orleans Square has no lack of charm about it so even in a small little corner you still feel like you're in the French Quarter at a little bistro. The big drawback is that there is next to no seating available near the order window so it's best if you take your food with you someplace else.

The banner overhead reads "Try Our Gumbo" for a reason - it's fantastic! They only serve three things: steak or vegetarian gumbo and clam chowder. That's it. But, boy, do they do them well! Each soup is served in a sourdough bread bowl and packs a punch of flavor. If you're not much into spice you may want to shy away from the gumbo, but if you're like me then you'll absolutely love it! Since their menu is so small it also means that service is literally quick. They usually have your order ready before you even finish paying for it at the first window! It's a great option if you're on-the-go somewhere.

Soups are around $10 per bowl, so it's not the cheapest meal you'll find but it's nice to have something fairly inexpensive that's not burgers, sandwiches and salads. Because they're bread bowls as well they're very filling so you don't have to worry about wanting to pick up a snack later or you could even split it with someone if you're not terribly hungry. I would definitely recommend stopping by the Royal Street Veranda on your next trip! You won't regret it!
