Overall Rating: 3 StarsThe Disneyland Band is an icon of the park and has been around about as long as the park has! They perform multiple times throughout the day, sometimes along with the Dapper Dans, and always at the daily flag ceremony. If you've never taken the time to enjoy one of their shows, it just may be worth it on your next trip! |
Atmosphere: 3 Stars
Pretty much all of their shows are on Main Street, USA in the middle of the day. The ambiance of Main Street matches the look and feel of a "local small town" marching band so that plays very well with their show. The only down side is that there can be very little shade so depending on when you're visiting you may have to view them from the hot sun often standing the entire time. Keep that in mind when you're planning to watch them.
Entertainment Quality: 4 Stars
These guys are amazing performers! Too often the stereotype is of a dry marching band that you could just as well listen to on the radio, but they make it entertaining to watch. They dance, do some tricks with their instruments, and have really fun quick-paced formations that grab your interest. (Granted, few marching bands are actually "dry", that's just the stereotype.) On top of all this, they are also great musicians skilled in many different styles and genres.
Quick note: play along with them! They often look for some level of audience participation in their show so be willing to take part if they come and ask!

Time Commitment: 3 Stars
The show itself is around 20 minutes long, so not too bad (except under the hot sun). If you are getting hot and bothered you can always keep walking by after a few minutes, but don't pass them altogether. It's a lot of fun to watch even if for a few minutes.
