The Disneyland Hotel is the original and most iconic of the Disneyland Resort Hotels and for a great reason. As the name suggests they do their best to make your stay magical with the right Disney flare. I've been able to stay at each DLR Hotel and this is by far my favourite, so if you can I would highly recommend you stay here. (UPDATED: 8 Sept 2017)

Location: 3 Stars
Of the three resort hotels, the Disneyland Hotel is the furthest away from the park entrances, but only just across the road from the Downtown Disney security entrance so you can still get to the parks faster than from the Paradise Pier Hotel. It's no more than a ten or fifteen minute walk, but if you'd rather save your energy for later the Downtown Disney Monorail station is closer to the hotel than the rest of Downtown Disney. I wouldn't recommend waiting for the monorail first thing in the morning, but it's a nice plus at the end of a long day to just ride back to your room than walk.

The decor is somewhat modern with a fairy tale twist. The sconces are all Mickey hands and hidden Mickeys populate everything from the carpet to the wallpaper. The best part of all is the headboard. Each one is a carving of Sleeping Beauty Castle that will light up with fireworks and stars while playing "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes". It seems like a silly thing to love, but once you see it you'll agree it makes your entire vacation!

The rooms are well kept, the lobbies are well-themed to the tower names (Fantasy, Adventure, and Frontier Towers) and the grounds are beautiful. If you keep an eye open, you'll notice that even the plants outside the towers match the theming. Tropical plants bloom outside the Adventure Tower, pine trees tower next to the Frontier Tower and Mickey & Minnie topiaries are just outside the Fantasy Tower.
The pools and hot tubs are great, just be aware that the E-Ticket pool is half salt water. The pools feature two Monorail-themed waterslides which are a lot more fun than they seem at first sight. The Disneyland Hotel has probably my favourite pool area of all the resort hotels!
There are also several restaurants surrounding the pool area, including the Tangaroa Terrace and Goofy's Kitchen, both of which are fantastic! For adults wanting to unwind a bit at the end of the day, Trader Sam's Tiki Bar is a big hit as well with an entrance just off the Frontier Tower.

It's a little pricey with rooms starting at $350/night, but don't let that scare you too much because we feel the overall experience is worth it. It's great to be immersed in the Disney experience and the customer service is fantastic! If you can swing it, try to stay there at least once and you won't regret it!
