We've been patiently awaiting the new MaxPass system for several months now and there is still no official news about it, but as of Wednesday the new FastPass system, separate from the MaxPass, is up and running! Most of the features are the same as the classic system, but there are a few changes to be aware of, including a possible glitch that may or may not last the next few weeks. For now, here's how the new FastPasses work in the Disneyland Resort.
|
The biggest difference is that now the paper FastPass printed at the kiosk is not necessary for reentry. The printed pass is mostly a reminder card that can be scanned if needed but CMs will eventually ask only for your park passes/tickets to be scanned. That's right - scanned. The scanners that have been installed at each FastPass return entry are in use. Any FastPass you get is now linked to your ticket/pass which is scanned for entrance into the FastPass return line.
For the time being, there seems to be a potential glitch in the new system. Until now, guests were required to wait at least 35-40 minutes for a FastPass return time. Guests are now reporting that they are receiving return times at some attractions that are only a few minutes away. For example, they get a FastPass at 2.06p that lists a return time starting at 2.10p. There is no word whether this is a permanent change, a sign of some kind of tiered FastPass system, or merely a problem that needs to be fixed. |
As far as we can tell, every other aspect of the FastPass system has remained unchanged and passes for shows like World of Color do not have a digital aspect to them at all so they will continue to function as before. The return windows remain the same and the number of FastPasses held simultaneously is the same. For more information on how the FastPass system works, click here andhere.
Disney has not released any new information about this rollout yet, so everything we know is based off reported guest experience. Details could easily change in the near future as Disneyland eventually discusses the new system, but this is what we know now for certain. Keep your eyes peeled - the MaxPass may be just around the corner!
