If you frequent websites looking for advice on your next Disney trip, I've sure you've noticed some odd lingo and abbreviations used by aficionados to save time and space.  I tend to use it a lot, too!  In the interest of helping you navigate these pages easier and more efficiently and being able to talk like a true Disney fan, I'll break down some of the basics. UPDATED 19 JANUARY 2020

General Abbreviations

  • DLR - Disneyland Resort, specifically referring to California
  • DL or DLP - Disneyland Park, used when differentiating from the overall resort
  • DCA - Disney California Adventure (it's kind of obvious why we prefer to abbreviate)
  • GCH - Disney's Grand Californian Hotel
  • DLH - Disneyland Hotel
  • PPH - Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel
  • DD - Downtown Disney shopping district
  • CM - Cast Member, how you refer to Disney employees
  • FP - FastPass
  • AP - Annual Passport or Annual Passholder
  • SR - Single Rider

Disneyland

  • DLRR - Disneyland Railroad
  • NOS - New Orleans Square
  • POTC - Pirates of the Caribbean (pronounced "kar-i-'bee-an", not "kar-'i-be-un")
  • HM - The Haunted Mansion (occasionally used to refer to Hidden Mickeys in the parks)
  • BTMRR or BTM - Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (or just say Thunder Mountain, let's be honest)
  • MB - Matterhorn Bobsleds
  • IASM - "it's a small world"
  • TL - Tomorrowland
  • PM - PeopleMover (only when talking about extinct rides)
  • SM - Space Mountain or Splash Mountain, pay attention to context
  • HMH - Haunted Mansion Holiday
  • ROTR - Rise of the Resistance
  • PTN - Paint the Night Parade

Disney California Adventure

  • GOTG - Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT
  • RSR - Radiator Springs Racers
  • GRR - Grizzly River Run
  • WOC - World of Color
  • OBB - Oogie Boogie Bash
It's a lot, but those are the basics for Disneyland.  Want to know if you're accidentally reading about Walt Disney World and don't realize it?  Here are some basics so you can tell the difference.
  • WDW - Walt Disney World, referring to the entire resort
  • MK - Magic Kingdom - although Disneyland is Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom, it's never abbreviated that way
  • DHS - Disney's Hollywood Studios park
  • DAK - Disney's Animal Kingdom
  • DS - Disney Springs shopping district
  • TTC - Transportation & Ticket Center
  • TT - Test Track
  • MS - Mission Space
  • EE - Expedition Everest
  • RRC - Rockin' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith
  • TOT - Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

Well, am I missing anything?
