It's finally here! Soarin' Around the World has landed at Disney California Adventure and is happily taking guests on a breathtaking ride over beautiful sights all over the world! Many people, I know, have had reservations about changing from Soarin' Over California in a park that is meant to be all about the state, but after seeing it for myself I feel confident in saying you won't be disappointed.

Soarin' Around the World does not throw aside its tribute to the Golden State. Each version of the ride (DCA, Epcot and Shanghai) ends in a different place, so DCA's version includes the most nods to the original classic by still ending in Disneyland. The biggest thing, though, is that along the main ramp inside the front hangar entrance still hangs the tributes to the pioneers of California's aviation history. Every person who walks into Soarin' will still be able to see how California shaped the industry and understand how this attraction fits into the park's theme.
Contrary to what normally happens when new attractions open, Fastpasses for Soarin' Around the World do not disappear quickly. I was there opening day at the rope drop and still would have been able to get Fastpasses for just an hour and a half later. That wasn't an option since I had to wait for others and even at 11 am I was able to get Fastpasses for only a few hours later. Several other guests I talked to were in the same boat which is why in the video below I started filming first thing in the morning but actually rode mid-afternoon.
If you're staying at one of the Disneyland Resort hotels and would rather not use a Fastpass for Soarin', the line remains really short during Extra Magic Hours so you could always do that. You will be amazed, though, by this new ride. It is spectacular and breathtaking! For those of you who have already taken a flight onboard, what do you think?
